| About Swanhosting
Swanhosting.co.uk was set up on 25 May 2006 as a small - scale website hosting
system enabling simple, flexible and affordable design and hosting. By
effectively splitting a regular hosting package, it was possible to charge
much less for web hosting resources by sharing them between a number
of small sites. Server resources are carefully monitored to ensure smooth
running of all Swanhosting websites and we are proud to have kept our hosting
charges unchanged since the system was launched. We use reputable and reliable
companies for server usage and Domain Name registration.
Our Charges
Swanhosting web space is usually charged at £10 per 5 MB per year, payable
on 01 May of each year. Most of our sites are below 5MB. Domain names vary
according to their details, but are generally renewable annually on the date
of original registration, with .co.uk costing £10 and .com costing
£15. These costs include administration and maintenance. Again, we are
pleased to announce that these prices have remained constant since our launch
in 2006, despite increases in costs of supply. Updating is done and charged
for on an 'ad hoc' basis.
Bandwidth
Our bandwidth has a limit, albeit a high one. It is conceivable that a
comparatively big site with unusually high traffic or heavy downloads might,
at some point, stretch our available resources and need a server change or
upgrade. We reserve the right to advise a change or upgrade servers if necessary,
or alternatively to limit the available bandwidth of a particular site. We
will only do this if your site's bandwidth usage is dramatically higher than
our other sites' average, and if it is affecting, or is likely to affect,
smooth performance of our system. Any necessary upgrades to our resources
under these circumstances will be provided at cost, and by agreement.
Responsibility
We back up our sites regularly, and in the case of system errors or failures
we undertake to do our best to get things back on track as fast as possible.
We will not accept responsibility for any legal action resulting from the
content of your website, or for hosting / system failures beyond our control,
or for loss of business following a software, hardware or other error
or failure.
Cancellation
It is not our wish to keep clients against their will. Should you wish to
remove your site and upload it elsewhere, we will provide you with a backup
of your site and remove it from our system. We will not levy any administration
charges for this procedure, and no refunds will be given.
We reserve the right to suspend or remove files or websites from our hosting
system if we any have unresolvable legal or moral issues with your content,
if your account is unpaid for an unacceptable length of time, or because
of issues that affect the overall performance of our system, such as bandwidth
(above). We will always try to resolve an issue by discussion, and suspension
/ removal is our last option. We will not levy any administration charges
for this procedure, and no refunds will be given.
And Finally...
It all looks a bit scary, doesn't it? But rest assured we have never
had to cancel a site. We have never had to limit bandwidth. We have
never... well, let's not tempt fate. We're approachable and reasonable,
and our business is based on fairness, co-operation, trust and common sense.
