Shaftesbury Local Food Trail:   Visit 10 local food producers

Trail leaflet available all year round

from Shaftesbury Tourist Information Centre in Bell Street (01747 853514)

from Swans Yard Community Resource Centre,

and from Shaftesbury and Gillingham libraries.

FOOD TRAIL:

Food can be educational as well as fun and tasty!

Throughout April this year, take the opportunity to taste food and drink that has been locally grown, nurtured, harvested, milled, brewed, churned, baked, cooked, and generally turned into the wonderful local food enjoyed in the Blackmore Vale.

We’ve chosen just ten of the very many excellent local farms and food producers in the area, and have put them together for you in this Shaftesbury Local Food Trail. Enjoy the challenge of visiting our ten Food Trail venues, get your brochure stamped at each one and you will be entered into a free prize draw for a fantastic Local Food Hamper.

This is an ideal way to involve the whole family in exploring the area around Shaftesbury, discovering some new places to visit, and re-discovering some old friends. All ten venues particularly welcome children, and all the producers are happy to take time to explain why local food matters and exactly where their produce comes from.

How to take part:

You can get your FREE Food Trail leaflet at Shaftesbury Tourist Information Centre in Bell Street or at the Swans Trust Community Resource Centre in Swans Yard from March 28th. It is also available from the ten participating venues from April 1st.

You have from April 1st to May 3rd collect the stamps. Please check which days and times each of the venues are open – not all are open every day.

Once complete, fill in your name and address and deliver the form to Swans Trust Community Resource Centre, Swans Yard, High Street, Shaftesbury SP7 8JQ no later than 12noon on Sunday 4th May. All those checked as accurately having collected all ten stamps will be put in a draw, or if none have all ten those with nine will be put in the draw. The winner will be announced at 2.30 that day, when the prize hamper can be collected.

Each of the producers below has given a delicious contribution to the prize hamper (some in the form of vouchers so that you can choose your favourite goodies!), plus there will be a Shaftesbury Food Festival t-shirt.
