World famous Japanese Master Potter visits
Higher Green Farm
 |
Yo Thom (Japanese Potter) who has recently moved to the Shaftesbury area
has made a great impression and success in her recent exhibition at Higher
Green Farm Arts. She has moved her studio in London and is currently establishing
a base in North Dorset. Her latest work called 'Ai-Indigo' was almost sold
out. She is looking to develop ideas inspired by our beautiful countryside
which she hopes will be a unique marriage of British and Japanese elements.

Yo was apprentice to Lisa Hammond who with Ken Matsuzaki and friends came
to visit Higher Green Farm last Wednesday. Des Alner and Julie Turner were
delighted to receive such important celebrities. Ken Matsuzaki was an apprentice
to National Living Treasure Tatsuzo Shimaoka, a disciple of Shoji Hamada
who came to England with Bernard Leach in 1920. Now on the world stage as
a leading contemporary potter of exceptional quality Ken Matsuzaki is currently
in this country leading masterclasses with Lisa Hammond, a leading potter
herself.

Some exciting news - we have joined a scheme called
Arts Award which
enables young people (11-25) to build qualifications through creative
activities. We are now a centre and provide a structure for all
kinds of projects to develop. Julie and Des will be advisors and teachers.
