We run regular Childrens Art and Craft Courses during the School Holidays.

We also run occasional Adults Courses in Art, Pottery, Metal Sculpture, Paper Sculpture, Stone Carving , Textiles, Creative Writing, Illustration and Digital Photography.

Easter Holiday Childrens Workshops

            Take a look at the Arts Award Scheme as some future courses will be linked with this exciting development.                                             All courses run from 10am to 3.30pm unless otherwise stated.  Please bring a packed lunch.

Course Content Name Date Cost
Large Scale Ceramics A two part course (making/decorating) - this course enables individuals to focus on one piece of work which in the time provides the opportunity to produce a major ceramic item.  The course will also involve all the basic processes from raw materials to firing in the kiln, which will provide a basic knowledge and experience of working with clay.  Age 8+ Des Alner Monday 2nd April and Friday 13th April £40 for the two days

Art & Craft Workshops

An exciting day rotating through a number of art and craft activities. Painting, Pottery, Batik, Sculpture, Print Making, Collage etc.  We encourage children to develop ideas into their own creative statements using a wide range of techniques and materials. For children who participate a number of times we will endeavour to create progression in various activities. Children wishing to make presents may have the opportunity of some woodwork on the Monday.   Age 5+

Wire Sculpture Back by popular demand! Pauline will provide the opportunity for students to make their own wire sculptures and creatures using her teaching and techniques.  See her website under artists.  Age 8+

Jewellery Design and Make Workshop Sam Compton, jewellery designer returns with her popular course.  Sam will introduce new techniques and continue with a progressive skill based programme.  Opportunities for advanced students.  Age 8+ Sam Compton Wednesday 4th April £25
Painting and Drawing Techniques An opportunity to learn and develop skills in drawing and painting (including life drawing).  Des will endeavour to meet each individual's needs as the course is intended for skills development.  We will use some of the elements of art - line, tone, form, colour etc., also one and two point perspective.  This can also be a continuation of work and progress from previous courses.  Age 8+ Des Alner   Wednesday 4th April £20
The Borrowers A day to make your own 'Borrowers' abode so that they may come and live with you?  A whole range of materials and media are available for participants to imaginatively build their Borrowers empire.  Any small items of dolls house size that you may have can be brought along.  A fun day.  Age 5+

Paper Sculpture Peter's famous technique of building characters from a wire frame to layering paper mache can be achieved with his expertise.  Participants can bring photo's/pictures of ideas to start the day off.  Look at Peter's website under Artists.  Age 8+ Peter Rush Thursday 5th April £25
Bugs and Beatles Peter's unique technique of building realistic bugs and beatles using plastics and wire.  The finished results are most convincing and and enables participants to extend their artistic skills.  Age 8+ Peter Rush Tuesday 10th April £25
Spring Flowers This theme enables children to work in a wide variety of media and techniques.  We will look at different artists use of seasonal flowers where inspiration can be gained.  A riot of spring colours and shapes explored using: collage, printing, paper art, painting, batik. Age 5+ Julie Turner Wednesday 11th April £20
Bird Boxes This workshop is in preparation for the nesting season where participants can take home bird, bat and insect houses.  We will be mainly working in wood .  The skills of using associated tools and equipment will be taught safely.  Age 8+ Des Alner Wednesday 11th April £20
Hoody Bags Bring along an old hoodie and turn it into a designer bag, then use embellishment  (buttons, badges, tassles etc) to make it one of a kind!  Basic sewing techniques will be taught.  Age 8+ Julie Turner Thursday 12th April £20
Toy Transformer Sculpture Bring along any old toys and transform them into another dimension!  Science fiction sculpture.  Des and Peter will be teaching workshop skills and techniques which will extend participants skills and experience.  Age 8+ Des Alner and Peter Rush Thursday 12th April £25
Arts Award Are you interested in working towards your Bronze or Silver Award?  See the website for details or talk to Des and Julie.   Develop an arts based project through the holidays, using one of the above courses as a focal point.     Age 11+ Des Alner
