The Cider BeatHenry Buckton The Cider Beat is a nostalgic comedy that takes place somewhere in the West Country. The main character is Police Constable Tom Priddy, who patrols a rural beat. The action takes place one evening during World War II, and there are several interwoven story lines, involving poaching, spying, and the obligatory case of mistaken identity. It is a one-act play of roughly an hour in length, although it does lend itself to a short break in the middle. The play is an improved and updated version of a script entitled 'A Cider Beat' which won a commendation at the 2005/2006 Original Playwriting Competition and Festival.
