Yesterday's Country VillageA 1st Take Production Written and Presented by Henry Buckton Directed by David Rogers Cameraman Andy Warren Running Time: 100 mins. Music by : The Yetties Take a trip back to the rural communities of yesteryear and immerse yourself in everyday village life as it once was, in this DVD version of Henry Buckton's best-selling book. To a large extent the inhabitants of rural villages up until the 1960s were the descendents of those who had lived and worked there for hundreds of years, many inhabiting the same farms and cottages that generations of their family had done before them. But what was it really like for the people who lived in this bygone age? Was it really as idyllic as we now think? Through interviews, stunning location film, historic photographs, paintings and rare archive footage we explore this very British piece of social history to recapture the traditional feel of rural life and experience its charm and warmth. Yesterday's Country Village is a treasury of scenes and faces that evoke memories of lives lived through hard times and good, but always with a great sense of humour and enduring spirit. 1st Take's Dave Rogers, who produced the DVD, says: 'Henry's book has been enjoyed by so many because it is a visual delight and also contains a rich variety of fascinating anecdotes from people who recall village life in bygone days. We hope that the DVD does this and more, as we also have the benefit of some wonderful location film, magnificent paintings by Somerset artist Syd Durston and evocative music by one of Britain's best-loved folk bands, The Yetties.' The film is available through shops, or direct from the production company by visiting their website.
